Elizabeth Chang, violinist, enjoys a multi-faceted career as performer, teacher, and arts administrator. Her performing career has taken her to more than twenty countries and her chamber music appearances have included collaborations with many of today's leading artists.

She is currently a faculty member of the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the Pre-College Division of the Juilliard School. Prior to her appointment to UMass, Ms. Chang toured and recorded extensively with the Orchestra of St. Luke's and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and performed with a number of new music groups based in New York City.

She was formerly an Artist Faculty member of New York University and of the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University; for many years she also served as head of chamber music and violin faculty member at The School for Strings and as a member of the faculty of the Harlem School of the Arts.

In recent summers, she has participated in Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival (Vermont), ARIA International Music Festival (Massachusetts), Interharmony Festivals (Germany), Vianden International Music Festival (Luxembourg) and Brancaleoni International Music Festival (Italy).

A native New Yorker, Ms. Chang’s primary teachers were Louise Behrend, Joseph Fuchs, Roman Totenberg, and Max Rostal. She also worked closely with Leon Kirchner and Luise Vosgerchian. She is a graduate of Harvard University and was the recipient of the Presidential Scholar in the Arts Award and the Beebe Fellowship for Study Abroad awarded by New England Conservatory.

Nardo Poy

Nardo Poy, violist, an Associate Musician with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra since 1990, has been a member of the world-renowned Orpheus Chamber Orchestra since 1978 and has been featured as soloist in the United States, Europe and Japan with Orpheus, the North Carolina Symphony, the Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia and the Kansas City Camerata.

Other groups with which Mr. Poy performs are the Orchestra of St. Luke's, the Perspectives Ensemble, the Lighthouse Chamber Players and is principal violist of the American Symphony Orchestra, the Gotham Chamber Opera and L'Opera Français de New York, as well as assistant principal violist with the American Ballet Theatre Orchestra in New York.

Recordings include over 70 with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra as well as numerous chamber music recordings with the Perspectives Ensemble, the Harmonie Ensemble, the Broyhill Chamber Ensemble, the Lighthouse Chamber Players and colleagues from the Bard Music Festival.

Among his many chamber music performances have been collaborations with Isaac Stern, Elmar Oliveira, Bernard Greenhouse, Aaron Rosand and Dawn Upshaw. He has also held the principal viola position with the Lake George Opera Company, the Opera Company of Philadelphia, the Santa Fe Opera, the Philharmonia Orchestra of Philadelphia and the Grand Teton Music Festival orchestra. Mr. Poy has also been an Artist-in-Residence at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music with the Carnegie String Quartet.
