Double Concerto in D
The solo parts of this wonderful Double Concerto for two violins and orchestra survive in a faultless fair copy by Bach that was made around 1730. The slow movement is regarded as a melodic high point of the composer's output. With the two solo violins on an equal footing, the concerto amply deserves its position as one of Bach's most often-played and popular works.
Piano reduction by Johannes Umbreit. Fingering and bowing of violin parts by Kurt Guntner.
