Charles Jean-Baptiste Collin-Mezin (Père) (1841-1923) was a celebrated Parisian violin maker. He was awarded medals in the Paris Exhibitions of 1878, 1889 and 1900 and was elected an Officier de l'Académie des Beaux-Arts. His best work is generally from the years 1880 to 1900. We appreciate his late 19th Century instruments for their handsome materials and varnish, precise workmanship, and their full, brilliant sound quality. This violin is from the golden period of his work.
